Al Kavadlo books – your arsenal for an incredible body!

Al Kavadlo is probably the biggest promoter of Convict Conditioning. Not only incredible athlete but also author of a few books. He lives and breathes the philosophy of Convict Conditioning and teaches it on a daily basis.

I personally follow him religiously and his teachings really helped me tremendously on my journey. If you don’t know him yet – its time to meet the master and get all the knowledge to take your bodyweight training to the next level.

Who is Al?

Al Kavadlo is the Master instructor for Dragon Door’s Progressive Calisthenics Certification. Al has been featured in The New York Times and is a regular contributor to Bodybuilding.com and TRAIN magazine. Recognized worldwide for his amazing bodyweight feats of strength as well as his unique coaching style.

He wrote 3 books which are a must have.

What Al does really well is presenting very often complex amount of information in a totally accessible and non intimidating way aimed at any level of gym user, bodyweight athlete, or fitness enthusiast.

Flexibility Training for Extreme Calisthenic Strength

This is the newest of Kavadlo books. It teaches you step by step how to stretch for strength and flexibility, I was personally able to minimize my normal training soreness to zero. It gives you a huge selection of different exercises and stretches to best get the increase in range of motion that you are looking for and the flexibility that you want as well as sample routines. Its simply the best book about stretching I have ever picked up.

2. Raising the Bar

The Definitive Guide to Bar Calisthenics

Here Al breaks down every type of exercise you can do with a pull-up bar. If you are a bar lover and want to be a bar master – you must have this one. From the most simple form of each exercise progressing to the most challenging form of each exercise, Al covers it. As a Coach and bodyweight training addict I loved all the variations shown so I can now learn from Al.

This book is far beyond just pull ups and there are countless exercises for upper body and abs. I just wished there were more workoutsbut you can definitely put together your own routine based on the info in the book.

3. Pushing the Limits!

Total Body Strength With No Equipment

The keys to a successful bodyweight training program are adding complexity, altering your leverage and proper progression, Al demonstrates all of these aspects flawlessly in this book. I personally use this book as a reference manual for progressions – which makes my training interesting and challenging every single time. Whether you’re an advanced bodyweight athlete or just getting started “Pushing the Limits” has something for everybody. I love it and its a book I constantly come back to.
